Haematology / Medical Oncology Ward at the Canberra Hospital

The Med Onc Movers team was founded at the Kaz / Fugitsu Ball in July this year when team captain, Ros Lindsey, was chatting to Marion Blake, ACT Coordinator of Dragons Abreast. Marion talked about the Regatta with such delight and enthusiasm, a team from the Haematology / Medical Oncology Ward at the Canberra Hospital was promised then and there on the spot. I’m not sure if it was the champagne, the wonderful mood of the evening or people’s genuine willingness to support such a great cause, but recruitment of the Kaz / Fugitsu contingent gathered momentum and we were off to a flying start with numbers.

The remainder of the team was formed over the next few days, with staff from Ward 14B, a ward that sees many people living with Breast Cancer, getting behind the cause with great enthusiasm. There are a few paddlers who have done this before but, for the majority of us, it’s definitely a new experience! We are all here to have a go, have some fun, and raise awareness and funds for Dragons Abreast.
