PADDLING IN DARWIN WITH DRAGONS ABREAST NT

Training is currently Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 5.20 for a 5.30 start. We leave from the Berth below Mr Ernie Chin’s office in Cullen Bay, almost opposite the Mandorah Ferry Terminal. Please bring a hat and a water bottle.

Members of Dragons Abreast Australia (DAA) are welcome to paddle with us when visiting the Northern Territory but must produce a Dragons abreast ID card before being allowed in the boat.

COME AND TRY DRAGON BOAT PADDLING

The purposes of Dragons abreast NT Come and Try sessions are to:

  • Offer breast cancer survivors the opportunity to try their hand at dragon boat paddling
  • Explain and demonstrate the exercise experience in a safe environment
  • Meet with others who are travelling the journey with breast cancer in a fun and social environment.

Come and Try sessions have been temporarily suspended till after the Annual General Meeting (AGM ) late March 2009.

Thank you.

We are proud to boast that Dragons Abreast NT is the first Dragons Abreast group in Australia. We made our debut on Lake Alexander in December 1998. These wonderful trail blazing women paddled under the name of the NT Breast Cancer Voice and were led by Michelle Hanton.

Northern Territory gallery

The Northern Territory is a small community and for this reason at fund raising events a unified banner is used which incorporates the logos of the three organisations - Dragons Abreast NT, NT Breast Cancer Voice and Dragons Abreast Australia. The banner signifies we are united in the fight against breast cancer in the Northern Territory .

Dragons Abreast NT's home is located in Darwin’s Cullen Bay Marina. Our two boats Sunshine and Moontime are berthed here. Training takes place Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5.30 – 7.00. There is also an opportunity for members to paddle out through the Cullen Bay Marina lock into Darwin’s beautiful harbour for an hours paddle every Sunday morning.
