Dragons Abreast...Rowing
to recovery, and all proud to be in the same boat.
Breast cancer is a cruel
and invasive disease, eating into the lives of 10 000 Australian women
and their families each year.
Dragons Abreast is a group
of breast cancer survivors who meet each week to paddle huge dragon
boats along the Brisbane River.
For these women, dragon
boat racing provides fun, fitness and friendship in a beautiful environment
while also raising community awareness about breast cancer.
Organiser Janelle
Gamble introduced me to the Brisbane River Dragons, and made me acting
cox of the current national dragon boat champion team.
