TRAINING REGIME

Fitness preparation

Canadian Team Manual "Abreast in a boat" has great information on strength work for upper body and core, this includes warm up & down stretches, information on how to increase your general and specific paddlin' fitness level. Ask us for a copy.

Fitness Program

Remember to begin slowly and build-up to that 250m, 500m sprint or the more difficult 2000 m challenge (in the boat). It is important to do something everyday - walking, swimming or gym work, and to start thinking about our food and fluid intake. We want to be ready for paddling when the boat gets here.
