DA Perth Amazons are an incorporated team and full members in their own right of the State dragon boating body in Western Australia DBWA. We have always paddled mainstream in the Grand Prix regattas and have also participated in the National Ausdbf championships on occasion and the World Club Crew Championships in Penang in 2008.
Where we are: Maylands Sport and Recreation Club (on the beautiful Swan River). 50 Clarkson Road , Maylands WA .
When we Train: Saturdays 8:00am for 8:30am on the water, Tuesdays 5:30pm for 6:00pm on the water.
We train all year round and also participate in the Western Australian Dragon Boating regatta season from November til March/April each year.
It is always best to confirm days and times before planning to start paddling as these can sometimes change with regatta’s and seasons. Send us an email & we will reply or call.
We welcome new paddlers (breast cancer survivors and supporters) – of any level of fitness to join. All you need to do is get down to the water and have a go.
Wear & Bring:
- Shorts & T-shirt & water footwear.
- Bottle of water
- Dry clothes (you will get wet).
- We supply Paddles and PDFs (if you are not a swimmer and able to swim 50 meters).
In the boat we:
- Paddle together
- Support each other
- Learn from one another
- Laugh together
- Overcome fear
- Encourage others
- Make true friends
- Take pride in our accomplishments
- Break the silence of cancer
Why we paddle :
We raise awareness that breast cancer survivors can live full and active lives. We are proud to show how much we can achieve as a dragon boat team.
